Jimmy Ray was
a preacher's son
and when his daddy
would visit he'd
come along
And when they got around
the parlour talking
Cousin Jimmy would
take me walking
Through the backyard
we'd go walking
Then he'd look
into my eyes
Lord knows
to my surprise
The only one
who could ever reach me
was the son of
a preacher man
The only boy
who could ever reach me
was the son of
a preacher man
Yes he was
He was he was mm
Mm beeing good
isn't always easy
No matter how hard I try
When he started
sweet-talking to me
and tell me
everything is all right
Kiss and tell me
everything is all right
Can I sneak away
again tonight
The Lord knows
to my surprise
The only one
who could ever teach me
was the son of
a preacher man
The only boy
who could ever reach me
was the son of
a preacher man
Yes he was
He was he was
How well I remember
the look that was
in his eyes
Stealing kisses
from me on the sly
Taking time to make time
Telling me that
he's all mine
Learning from
each others' knowing
Looking to see how
much we've grown
And the only one
who could ever reach me
was the son of
a preacher man
The only boy
who could ever reach me
was the son of
a preacher man
Yes he was
He was he was
The only boy
who could ever reach me
was the son of
a preacher man
Yes he was
He was he was
Oh is the only boy
who could ever teach me
Oh yes he was
Yes he was
Yes he was
Mm oh the only one
that could ever teach me
Oh the only one
who could ever teach me
