AMPED Private Karaoke Suites, Milwaukee: How Singa Boosted Customer Experience

AMPED opened in January 2023 and is Milwaukee's first and finest private room bar. During the daytime it functions as a creative meeting and event space, but when the clock strikes 9PM it transforms into an epic nighttime private suite karaoke bar.

Centrally located in the Milwaukee's Brewery District, AMPED is just two block's west of Fiserv Forum. It is also home to Milwaukee's largest disco ball.

Marla Poytinger, President of AMPED, noted her first experience with the karaoke room/box concept was when she visited Shanghai on a business trip in 2008.

“As a self-proclaimed “non-singer”, I was surprised at how comfortable I felt singing karaoke in my own private suite surrounded by familiar faces. I remember thinking that the concept would be popular in my hometown.

Fast forward 15 years later, when I now own a family of entertainment brands that focus on unique activities in a bar/tavern setting. The karaoke concept has always been on the list as a future possible concept, but we finally felt ready to tackle the challenge of it in 2023.”

Marla was attracted to two primary aspects of Singa: the in-room user experience and the quality of the music library.

“We needed a certain quantity of songs as a baseline, but we were more interested in the quality and consistency of the songs than just the quantity the provider had. There are certainly other providers out there that offer access to a “community sourced catalog” that can have an infinite number of songs, but the quality is very hit or miss. Using those two metrics as our core criteria, the Singa App was easily the best choice.

That decision has been further reinforced as Singa continues to develop both the app and song library at a lightning pace. Our customers in Milwaukee are very diverse, and while specific song requests do come in, they are typically for obscure bands that the customers don't necessarily expect us to have."

AMPED has had growing success with karaoke so far. While the local market was initially unaware of the karaoke room concept, the concept has begun to stick and grow.

“People who know what it is LOVE it and have been helping us get the word out, and even in the last month or so it has started to gain a lot of traction.

In addition, Singa version 2.0 which came out this May (2023), has had very favorable reviews among our staff and customers. It is always nice when good things get better, and we're confident that Singa will continue to meet our expectations as we strive to provide the best all-around private suite karaoke experience in the US.”
