Spotify recently launched its new Karaoke Mode. Karaoke Mode lets users sing along to popular songs while also putting their singing skills to the test with a sing score after each song. It is a great way to learn the lyrics to songs and challenge some friends to competitive singing battles.

Karaoke is once again becoming the hottest trend in entertainment. Now more than ever, people are returning to the bar stage, enjoying private karaoke rooms, or even setting up their own killer, at-home karaoke set-ups. Spotify Karaoke Mode joins the trends and brings some light karaoke fun and competition into everyone's pockets.

Find out what Spotify Karaoke Mode is all about, how it works, how to use it, and some alternatives for the more avid karaoke fans.

What is Karaoke Mode on Spotify?

Karaoke Mode is Spotify’s newest feature that lets its users sing along to songs via on screen lyrics. Not only does it show you the lyrics, but it will also rate your performance and give you a rating between 0 and 100 based on the accuracy of your singing.

Karaoke Mode is available within the Spotify app for Android and iOS users. It will be available to all users, so you should still be able to enjoy some karaoke fun even if you are on a free account. If you have the most recent update you can get straight to singing.

How do I use Karaoke Mode?

To use Karaoke Mode select a song and scroll down to the “Sing” button on the top right corner of the lyrics screen. The karaoke mode looks similar to the lyrics page but will have an additional sound bar viewable.

You can then sing along with the lyrics that appear on the screen while trying to match the pitch and tone. Once you have finished the song Spotify will displace as score from 0 to 100. You can also select the amount of vocal you want in the song.

Why don't I have Spotify Karaoke Mode?

The first thing to do is the check that you have updated your Spotify account. Go to the App Store or Play Store, search for Spotify, and check for any updates. If there is an update available be sure to do that!

If you still don't have Karaoke Mode even after updating, don't worry.  Spotify’s has not released Karaoke Mode to all users yet. They are doing a rolling update and plan to have it available to all Spotify users shortly.

What alternatives are there to Spotify Karaoke?

While Spotify is a great place for a quick round of karaoke to test your singing skills, for true fans of karaoke or people looking for a fun karaoke sesh with friends, Singa is the go to app. Where Singa lacks the gamification of Spotify Karaoke and other apps, it offers more in terms of creating a true karaoke singing experience. Not only does it allow you to select between various karaoke versions, it also also allows you to adjust your pitch, add or remove backing vocals, and enjoy a karaoke experience no mater how you sing — no judgement here!

The Singa app also connects you with local karaoke venues, so you can find places to show your skills and request songs from the app.
