Karaoke rooms are booming worldwide, from hotels and bars to entertainment venues and private lounges. But if you’ve ever wondered “What does it actually cost to set one up?”, we’ve got you covered.

At Singa, we recently completed our very own karaoke showroom in under 30 days. Below, we’ll break down the costs into three categories — equipment, room renovation, and furniture — to give you a realistic view of what goes into building a professional-quality karaoke space.

For our showroom, we chose a larger space, invested in extensive renovations, and opted for top-tier equipment, so our budget came in around €41,000 ($45,000) — but for most venues €5,000 ($5400) is enough to create a simple karaoke room designed for up to 8-10 people. Since our original project costs were calculated in euros, we’ve also included the equivalent amounts in US dollars for easier comparison.

Whether you're a business owner looking to add entertainment value to your venue or someone considering a dedicated karaoke space with multiple private rooms, this breakdown will help you understand the investment required at different quality levels.

Equipment costs: the heart of your karaoke room

When it comes to karaoke, equipment is where you don’t want to cut corners. A poor sound system or an unreliable microphone setup can make or break the guest experience. Here’s what we used in the Singa showroom, along with approximate costs.

Shure wireless microphones.

Mixing console and controller: €1,727 | $2,148

  • 2 x Deltaco CAT-HDMI-adapters behind the TVs

New Singa karaoke showroom
Singa showroom – powerful audio meets a sleek, wireless look.

This represents professional-grade equipment that's worth investing extra in, as sound quality is something you shouldn’t compromise on. The wireless microphone system alone makes up a significant portion of the budget, but it's essential for providing the freedom of movement that makes karaoke next-level fun.

For a tighter budget, you could start with more basic equipment and upgrade over time. However, skimping on audio quality can lead to disappointed customers and the need for costly upgrades later.

Room renovation costs: creating the perfect environment

For the impeccable equipment to shine, your karaoke room needs the right preparation. Room renovation ensures sound clarity, keeps noise contained, and makes the space look inviting.

Renovation costs can vary dramatically based on your starting point and desired finish quality. Our showroom renovation focused on creating an acoustically optimized space with professional presentation standards.

Acoustic treatment

Sound absorption: €605 | $707

  • 3 x Mölinä Acoustic panels: €605 - Mölinä. Alternatively, Amazon.de also has a wide variety of acoustic panels. | $707 - Amazon.com, many options for different tastes and price ranges.

Proper acoustic treatment is essential for karaoke rooms — without adequate sound control, you'll face issues with echo, sound bleeding to adjacent rooms, and poor audio quality.

Acoustic art panels combine functionality with character.

Window treatments

Professional curtains and installation: €3,721 | $4,345

  • Showroom curtains: €2,265 - Ludvig Svensson | $2,645
  • Curtain rails and professional installation: €1,456 | $1,700

The extensive curtain system serves multiple purposes: light control for optimal screen visibility, additional acoustic dampening, and creating an intimate atmosphere that's perfect for karaoke.

Floor-to-ceiling curtains frame the space with elegance while softening acoustics, creating both a stylish backdrop and an intimate atmosphere for karaoke nights.

Room illumination

Lighting fixtures and a custom light wall: €11,485 | $13,325

  • A custom light wall with control panel (including installation): €5,041 | $5,849
  • Singa custom neon light: €998 | $1,158
  • Ceiling lamps: €518 | $601
  • Adjustable downlights: €1,350 | $1,566
  • 3x Pendant light "Flowerpot": €848 | $984
  • Picture light: €280 | $325
  • 2x Wall light "Flowerpot": €838 | $972
  • Dimmers: €88 | $102
  • 2x pre-assembled LED profiles: €487 | $565
  • Bulbs and other lighting components: €1,037 | $1,203
Control panel for the light wall – lights for every mood.

Lighting is often underestimated, but it’s one of the easiest ways to elevate a space and enhance every performance. Beyond simply illuminating the space, it defines the mood, draws attention to design features, and helps guests feel confident when they step up to sing.

In the Singa showroom, we combined ambient and accent lighting to balance functionality with atmosphere:

  • Ceiling LED strips for soft, even illumination across the space.
  • Color-changing wall lights that adjust to the music and event type.
  • Spotlights highlighting curtains and textures for added depth.
  • A smart control system for quick lighting changes.

👉 Total room renovation cost: €15,811 | $18,377

These renovation costs reflect a high-end finish suitable for a professional karaoke room. For a basic karaoke room setup, you could significantly reduce these costs by:

  • Using simpler curtain solutions
  • Installing basic acoustic foam instead of professional panels
  • Implementing simpler lighting with strategic placement and dimmable options, using standard LED panels or smart bulbs from brands like Philips Hue or Govee
  • Handling installation yourself where possible

Even when using simpler solutions, acoustic treatment and inviting atmosphere are crucial. Thoughtful curtains, basic soundproofing, and well-planned lighting will significantly enhance the karaoke experience while minimizing noise issues for neighbors or other areas of the venue.

Furniture and fixtures: designing a seamless experience

Furniture transforms a technical setup into a welcoming entertainment space. Our showroom furniture was sourced through Finnish Design Shop and represents premium design choices, but we'll also suggest more budget-friendly alternatives.

Cozy, inviting furniture turns the space into a place where guests want to stay and sing longer.

Seating and comfort

Premium seating: €6,309 | $7,454

Bar seating: €810 | $945

Tables and surfaces

Designer tables: €1,452 | $1,694

Kitchen and bar area: €4,291 | $5,010

  • Complete kitchen furniture including fridge and installation: €1,341 - IKEA | $1,566
  • Bar counter, pull handles for the kitchen cabinets, and installation: €2,950 - Finnish Design Shop | $3,444

Ventilation: €0 | $0

Our room was already equipped with AC, but ventilation is something you should never overlook. Karaoke rooms can heat up quickly with lots of people singing, moving, and having fun.

If your space isn’t properly climate controlled, investing in reliable AC units is essential. Poor air circulation is often the number one complaint from guests, so it’s worth addressing early. If your rooms don’t currently have AC, consider installing a wall-mounted system to keep the environment cool, comfortable, and enjoyable for everyone.

For a windowless karaoke room, a good wall-mounted AC typically means a ductless mini-split or a through-the-wall / PTAC style unit. These systems let you cool the room without needing a window.

👉 Total furniture cost: €12,862 | $14,930

Designer furniture elevates the space, but you can easily replace sofas, chairs, and tables with IKEA, Amazon, or Wayfair alternatives. The must-haves are comfortable seating, durable tables, and a bar area if food and drinks are part of your karaoke room.

Budget-friendly furniture alternatives

While we sourced through a designer for our showroom's premium aesthetic, it’s very achievable to curate a great karaoke room atmosphere with more affordable options:

  • IKEA modular seating instead of designer sofas (€500–€1,500 | $550–$1,650)
  • Standard bar stools from furniture retailers (€50–€100 | $55–$110)
  • Simple coffee tables rather than designer pieces (€75–€300 | $82–$330)
  • DIY bar counter using IKEA kitchen components (€800–€1,200 | $880–$1,320)

The key is choosing furniture that encourages social interaction and keeps guests comfortable throughout long karaoke sessions. Consider the flow of your room and how people will move between singing and socializing areas.

Considerations beyond the initial cost

Ongoing operational costs

  • Electricity consumption from multiple displays and audio equipment

Professional installation vs. DIY

While we used professional installation for our showroom, experienced DIY enthusiasts can handle much of the setup themselves. However, consider professional help for:

  • Complex audio system calibration
  • Electrical work for multiple displays
  • Acoustic treatment optimization

Proper installation significantly impacts the final result quality.

Space requirements and design

The size and layout of your space dramatically affect both costs and user experience. Our showroom design principles can be adapted to smaller spaces, but certain elements like acoustic treatment become even more critical in compact rooms.
