How to get your music on Singa - A guide for artists and labels

Singa is a flexible and user-friendly karaoke service that lets music lovers belt out your tunes! Singa is available in thousands of karaoke bars and room across the world, and enjoyed at home by tens of thousands using our consumer app.

Karaoke has recently seen a resurgence among all generations, and more and more artists and labels are seeing karaoke as a way to distribute their music and give fans a way to enjoy and celebrate their songs. Many international artists now have submitted their original tracks to Singa like Poets of the Fall, The Rasmus, Danko Jones, and Rednex, among many other artists.

As a producer or recording owner, distributing your music on Singa is very similar to streaming services. However, with Singa, you'll need a karaoke version of your song.

Here we will go over everything you need to get you or your artists' music into Singa. The requirements vary whether you are an independent artist or represented by a label, so be sure to select the situation which reflects you below:

Distributing your music on Singa as an independent artist

If you are an independent artist, Singa can be a great place to start distributing your music. It will allow fans to sing your song at karaoke venues across the world and at home. To get your song into Singa we will need the following:

1. The Song's Core:

  • The original, full-vocal master recording
  • A karaoke mix, either with the lead vocals removed or a fully instrumental version

Files should be of high quality; audio files in wav, aiff, or 320 kbps mp3.

2. Lyrics & Timing:

  • An XML text sync file with timestamps for the lyrics (required).
  • Alternatively, the complete song lyrics can be submitted (if needed).
  • If the lyrics are unpublished, contact details of the lyricist (email).

To generate a working XML text file you will need to purchase the service from a company called Interwebbi. They will generate a XML text file you can send to us. Through them, the song can also be distributed to other services. This varies if you are a lable or established artist so please check the instructions below if that applies to you.

3. Metadata:

  • Information on composers, lyricists, publishers, as well as the song’s ISRC and original release year.

4. Rights & Permissions:

  • A distribution agreement with the owner of the recording (catalogue licensing agreement).

Don't worry about publisher agreements – we'll handle that for you.

5. Visual Appeal (Optional):

  • The original cover art for your song (PNG)
  • 10 custom landscape images (PNG) to be displayed behind the lyrics

Original cover art - dimensions should be 1:1. Minimum file quality 1080p, but 4K preferred. PNG file type.

Background images - dimensions should be 16:9. Minimum file quality 1080p, but 4K preferred. PNG file type. Min. 10 images required, but additional images are great (rotation is 1-10 images per player session depending on how many are available).

Everything can be sent to luca@singa.com, using services like WeTransfer for larger files.

Publishing and Royalties:

Singa distributes royalties for song use to three parties:

  • The owner of the master recording receives a share through a distribution agreement.
  • Traditional copyright royalties are paid through Teosto/STIM/etc. (depending on your location).
  • A "graphical royalty" is paid to the song's lyricist or publisher to compensate for the displayed lyrics.

Once your song is live on Singa, plays and royalties are reported every 3 months to both the owner of the master recording and the lyricist/publisher.
