A Friday in December
Just an ordinary day for me
Till my mama called me
Said turn on your TV
I just sat there in silence
in disbelief in tears
Those little souls
that only been here
for six or seven years
Before they flew away
Twenty little angels
I cussed out loud in anger
And I hurt for those
moms and dads
I know we're not
supposed to question God
But I even did some of that
How could someone
so heaven sent
so innocent and frail
Wind up in the middle
of someone else's ****
Before they flew away
Twenty little angels
I know in heaven tonight
There's baseballs flying
over fences
High in the sky
Finger paintings
hanging on fridges
In God's holy light
Ballerinas blowing kisses
Filling Heaven with love
I can almost see
A polka dotted princess
Serving hot tea
To the grandpa
she hadn't met yet
I can hear them sing
At the top of their lungs
To God up above
I'm heart broke
but faithful
There's twenty little angels
Watching over us
There's a touchdown
on a Friday night
that'll never be thrown
There's a pink prom dress
that fits just right
That'll never be tried on
There's a dirty Ford
on a country road
That'll never see
their first kiss
But as much as
we're gonna miss 'em
There ain't much
they're gonna miss
Since they flew away
Twenty little angels
I know in heaven tonight
With wings and
two teeth missing
High in the sky
They're somewhere up
there listening
With a watchful eye
They're babysitting
Us from up above
I know they can see
Everybody crying
They're so at ease
While we're slowly dying
We just want to be
Right there beside 'em
But until that day comes
I'm heart broke
but faithful
There's twenty little angels
Watching over us
Oh I can't hear 'em praying
And I can't see 'em fly
But every time the sun
comes breaking
through the sky
I'm heart broke
but faithful
There's twenty little angels
Watching over us
I'm heartbroke but faithful
There's twenty little angels
Watching over
us
There's twenty little angels
watching over you
